Minors, Misconduct, Misconception

Event Information

Tens of thousands of youths are incarcerated today. Yet, this estimation significantly increases when you include those simply involved in the system each year. Incarceration and involvement at a young age can have varying effects on youths.

This Thursday, April 8 at 6:30 pm, join the GW Criminal Justice Student Association (CJSA) for a panel discussing youth incarceration on a national and local level. Topics will include COVID response, mental health resources, and other surrounding issues.

This moderated discussion will include Dr. Ellen McCann Sfecla from the GW Sociology department; Kieth Hasan-Towery the founder of the founder and Chair of the Marshall Heights Civic Association and 1st Vice-Chair of the Fletcher-Johnson Taskforce; Joshua Rovner manages a portfolio of juvenile justice issues for The Sentencing Project; Mark Motivans a Senior Statistician with the Bureau of Justice Statistics in Washington D.C.
